課程概述

「歐洲近世史」講述1500-1800年間，歐洲歷史的演變與特色，內容涵蓋政治、經濟、社會與文化等各面向。本課程分為上下學期，每一學期各討論八個主題。第一學期的課題包括：文藝復興運動、近代國家的興起、海外探險、貿易與殖民、宗教改革與宗教戰爭、西班牙帝國的興衰與法國的崛起等重要議題。

課程目標

一、建立修課學生對近代早期歐洲歷史重要議題的認識，奠定其進階研究的基礎。
二、協助修課學生掌握有關近代早期歐洲歷史研究的趨勢與重要著作。
三、藉由重要史著的研讀，提升修課學生的英文閱讀能力。

課程要求

選課學生須具備研讀英文歷史論著的能力。
